Behind the Screams
From its humble beginnings in 1991, Shocktoberfest has grown into the premier haunted scream park in Pennsylvania and is consistently ranked as one of the top haunted events in America.
Shocktoberfest features computer-controlled special effects akin to what you see at theme parks such as Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. Our proprietary effects software called IQEffects gives us the creative freedom to bring you truly stunning entertainment experiences.
This is a sneak peak behind the scenes and a look at the technological innovations we've pioneered over the years.
The Unknown - You Won't Believe Your Eyes: 2011
For our 20th Anniversary we pulled out all the stops. Our brand new attraction, The Unknown, combines our decades of experience producing entertainment attractions with cutting-edge special effects rarely seen outside of the big theme parks.
This attraction is jam-packed with special effects but our proprietary cinematic 3D technology makes The Unknown the only attraction of its kind in the world! Some of our effects were created using the same software tools that Industrial Light & Magic used to create the award-winning visuals for the Pirates of the Caribbean movies!
We can't give too much away, you have to see it for yourself...
iScareYou - Mobile Interactive Technology: 2007
With mobile phones in just about everyone's pocket, we launched iScareYou™ - a mobile app that puts the power of the scare in everyone's hand. There are ScareZones located around Shocktoberfest - when you find one just pull out your phone and wait for an unsuspecting victim to pass by. With a press of the Boo button, you can launch zombies and other nasties at your victim and revel in their horror.
The Prison of the Dead Breaks New Ground: 2004
Over two years of design, planning and construction went into our Prison of the Dead attraction that launched our 2004 season. It's a massive complex that spans over 50,000 square feet and contains five separate environments: two outdoor and three indoor, including a two-story cell block. The project was so big we had to locate it at the edge of the Shocktoberfest property and provide transportation for our guests on, what else, custom prison transport buses!
The Biohazard Hayride Raises the Bar: 2001-2002
Our first giant leap forward was the construction of sound stages that employ hydraulic, pneumatic, and atmospheric effects. Our elaborate shows feature special effects that are timed to audio and video tracks and are highly repeatable thanks to our software technology.
From hydraulic pistons that shake the wagons, to twenty feet tall robotic worms, to the elaborate stage shows with the best haunt actors in the business, the Biohazard Hayride has set the new standard in haunted hayrides.
